A Lady’s fine estate 14k white gold sapphire and diamond necklace. Circa 1990s

A very beautiful lady’s estate sapphire and diamond necklace from the late 1990s with an absolutely luxurious visual appeal. Originally purchased from Bailey, Banks and Biddle's (one of our nation’s oldest jewelers), it comes with it’s original box. There are a total of four (4) natural royal blue sapphires in the pendant with an estimated, combined and approximate total sapphire weight of 1.98 carats. Each sapphire has a diamond halo surround suspended on a split 14k white gold 2.24 mm thick wheat chain. There are a total of 42 round full cut diamond melee with an estimated, combined and approximate total diamond weight of 1.87 carats.

The first sapphire and diamond segment is comprised of one transparent dark royal blue oval mixed cut natural sapphire measuring approximately 5.25 mm long x 4.41 mm wide x 2.26 mm deep with an estimated approximate weight of 0.42 carats. The polish and symmetry are a good. The clarity is an SI and the sapphire is clarity Type II. The sapphire is assumed to have been heat treated (which is a common practice) and is priced accordingly. The sapphire has a white gold diamond surround comprised of 8 transparent near colorless round brilliant diamond melee measuring approximately 2.60 mm in diameter and weighing approximately 0.06 carat each with a combined, estimated and approximate total diamond weight of 0.48 carats. The colors are in the G to H (near colorless) range. The average clarity is in the VS range.

The second sapphire and diamond segment is comprised of one transparent dark royal blue round mixed cut natural sapphire measuring approximately 4.58 mm in diameter x 3.00 mm deep with an estimated approximate weight of 0.42 carats. The polish and symmetry are a good. The clarity is an SI and the sapphire is clarity Type II. The sapphire is assumed to have been heat treated (which is a common practice) and is priced accordingly. The sapphire has a white gold diamond surround comprised of 16 transparent near colorless round brilliant diamond melee. 8 of the diamond melee measure approximately 2.00 mm in diameter and weigh approximately 0.03 carat each with a combined, estimated and approximate total diamond weight of 0.24 carats. The remaining 8 diamond melee measure approximately 2.20 mm in diameter and weigh approximately 0.04 carat each with a combined, estimated and approximate total diamond weight of 0.32 carats. The total estimated, combined and approximate diamond weight is 0.56 carats.

The third sapphire and diamond segment is comprised of one transparent dark royal blue oval mixed cut natural sapphire measuring approximately 5.18 mm long x 4.22 mm wide x 2.60 mm deep with an estimated approximate weight of 0.42 carats. The polish and symmetry are a good. The clarity is an VS and the sapphire is clarity Type II. The sapphire is assumed to have been heat treated (which is a common practice) and is priced accordingly. The sapphire has a white gold diamond surround comprised of 8 transparent near colorless round brilliant diamond melee measuring approximately 2.60 mm in diameter and weighing approximately 0.06 carat each with a combined, estimated and approximate total diamond weight of 0.48 carats. The fourth sapphire and diamond segment serving as a pendant drop is comprised of one transparent dark royal blue pear shape mixed cut natural sapphire measuring approximately 6.73 mm long x 4.95 mm wide x 3.00 mm deep with an estimated approximate weight of 0.72 carats. The polish and symmetry are a good. The clarity is an VS and the sapphire is clarity Type II. The sapphire is assumed to have been heat treated (which is a common practice) and is priced accordingly. The sapphire has a white gold diamond surround comprised of 10 transparent near colorless round brilliant diamond melee measuring approximately 2.10 mm in diameter and weighing approximately 0.35 carat each with a combined, estimated and approximate total diamond weight of 0.35 carats. The colors are in the G to H (near colorless) range. The average clarity is in the SI range.

The sapphire and diamonds segments are attached to a 14k white gold woven wheat chain measuring approximately 2.24 mm in diameter by 15 1/2 inches long, with a 14k white gold lobster clasp for additional security. The necklace weighs approximately 8.9 pennyweight. The condition is very good. I was told it was considered very precious and was rarely worn.
