A lady's vintage Retro period 14k green and rose gold ribbon and bar brooch with square baguette cut natural amethyst accents.

One lady's vintage estate, original Retro style, 14k green and rose gold, die struck ribbon and bar brooch containing, millgrain bezel set on either end of the central bar, a total of two dark transparent reddish purple square baguette cut natural amethyst accents with an estimated, combined and approximate total weight of approximately 0.46 carats. This very lovely, finely crafted original Retro period piece, was made by the Arrow Jewelry Manufacturing Co. of New York; approximate circa 1943. Unlike the Art Deco style with its harsh monochromatic and geometric shapes, the following Retro style of the late 1930s and 1940s was marked by the use of warm colors and softer flowing designs. Ribbons were a popular Retro motif as was the use of amethyst. This piece is very well made. I was delighted to rescue it from obscurity and the fate of the melting pot at the hands of a tradesman who did not recognize its historical jewelry importance and value. But then, that is what a Jewelry Historian does. 

The die struck and assembled brooch measures approximately 37.00 mm long by 41.00 mm x 12.00 mm wide by 10.48 mm x 3.59 mm x 0.50 mm deep by 3.30 mm x 0.61 mm x 0.50 mm thick. It weighs approximately 4.7 pennyweight. This is a finely crafted heirloom piece of jewelry that can be passed down generations. It is marked on the back 14k with Arrow’s manufacturer’s mark. It is in good condition. There are minor surface blemishes throughout consistent with its age. The square baguette cut amethysts are securely set and in very good condition.
